Compass Trade Show: NYC

Compass NYC proved to be a success- one element that we think is important to touch on, is that shoe shows are evolving from being about market segmentation and gender and more about branding. If you have a cool strong message along with product that is innovative and intentional you can sit together on the same trade show floor. This new way of thinking is important both for buyers and brands. Thanks BPMW- we loved the show.

Our visit to the Capsule show yesterday left us excited for trade show season! Brand Pimps and Media Whores (BPMW) did a great job with the brand selection and visual merchandising. Also, BPMW's shows always have the cutest guys in attendance! Some of the footwear brands we loved at Capsule were Zuriick, Yuketen, Quoddy.

DailyCandy Spotlights the Ce Ce Chin Collection!

Since 2003, 80%20 and DailyCandy have made a "sweet" match and we truly appreciate all their coverage and their love. Once again they are giving us a nod in their new video segment on NBC, "Locals Dress You Up". Our very own Ce Ce Chin is spotlighted for the new launch of the The Ce Ce Chin Collection. These shoes will be available at Tani in February (and select styles available at Anthropologie now). Daily Candy describes the shoes as "Coco Chanel meets Pretty in Pink Era Molly Ringwald for cocktails".

Daily Candy is a global stead fast gem in the world of fashion editorial. On their website one sentence truly explains it all, "DailyCandy is dedicated to helping you live the sweet life". They have over 3 million subscribers to their daily newsletter and 13 specific city editions.

The Ting Tings Rock 80%20!

The Ting Tings, the dynamic Indie pop duo from the UK, have taken over the world of fashion parties with their infectious sounds.
On the most recent Saturday Night Live, lead singer Katie White was wearing our black Ruby boot while performing the hit, "That's Not My Name". She looked amazing! We love her dancing and high energy fun- she's a total 80%20 girl in every way.

Bread & Butter Berlin: Trade Show Season is here...

When you think of Berlin, what comes to your mind? Is it cutting edge design and fashion, or maybe hot night clubs and captivating flims?

Well Berlin is at the top of its game and 80%20 is getting into the mix. We'll be at the Bread and Butter Trade Show in Berlin at the Airport Berlin-Tempelhof from January 20 - 22nd. 80%20 will be amongst over 120 different forward lifestyle brands this year.

Berlin, in our opinion, is the best place to host such an innovative and exciting show like Bread & Butter. The city is the center of modern and industrial design, and even won the UNESCO "City of Design" award this year. Everything changes and evolves so quickly in Berlin and it is an amazing place to get inspired by innovation and creativity.

After Bread & Butter, check out Berlin's Fashion Week Jan. 20-23 where there will be many gems and tons of eye candy!

It is rare these days that positivity defies negativity in popular culture- and often advertising speaks in a dull vacuous tone. Well- welcome to the work of Sean Woolsey who is taking posters in hyper popular urban spaces and turning them into messages of positivity. “It also acts as an inherent social commentary in declaring a space more public than it was before”. How Smart- and we love it.

The "Next" Boutiques

Who says you can't bring a little New York to the mid-west? Cleveland.com showcases Steve Silver, owner of Cleveland Ohio boutiques- Next Coventry and Next Beachwood Place who is doing exactly that. Along with his partner, Robert Rosenthal, they completely transformed the stores from selling mostly preppy clothes for an older clientele to selling boutique-style clothing and accessory geared to the fashion forward crowd. Their boutiques have been a part of bringing Cleveland to its 'up-and-coming" status. They are always on top of the latest trends, and Steve says, "I'll be honest. I know retailers all over the country, and I've found the Cleveland market to be very accepting and very fast." There's a shout out in this article by Cleveland.com about 80%20! We think he's doing amazing things out in the Mid-West and we are very proud to be part of his mix.
